The Impact of Age-Friendly Change in Alameda County
Our 6th annual conference on November 1, 2019 was a deep dive into the potential of Age-Friendly change to improve health and life outcomes for all of us in Alameda County.
Over 135 stakeholders came together to gain a common, practical vision of the World Health Organization’s Age-Friendly Community initiative, and to explore how we can harness it to address some of our most vexing issues. We discussed the impact of ageism on people and on the health of our communities. We learned how cities are advancing a livable community framework that will benefit all ages. And we explored our roles as change agents in government, in organizations, and as people who live in the community – producing concrete ideas for action that will inform our collective work to make Alameda County a great place to age.
